Last Call for Vet Oscars

Pet owners can make their vote count in one set of ‘Oscars’ that are definitely going to make it to the red carpet this year – the Petplan Veterinary Awards 2008.

The nationwide search to find the UK’s top vet is now in its eighth year and has already attracted over 1,500 entries, so if your vet practice has gone that extra mile for your pet, put their name forward now - entries close on 15 February.

Pet owners can nominate across four main categories: vet of the year; vet nurse of the year; vet receptionist of the year, and vet practice of the year. Making a nomination is easy – simply call the Vet Awards hotline on 0845 678 1063, email vetawards@petplan.co.uk or complete an online nomination on www.petplan.co.uk/vetawards.

Voting will give your nominee the chance to win a prestigious Petplan Veterinary Awards trophy and a fabulous prize and, if your nomination wins one of the categories, you could receive £250.  What’s more, for every nomination received Petplan will give £1 to Petsavers, a charity that funds studies into illnesses and injuries that commonly affect our pets and enables vets to provide better treatment.

Judged by an independent panel of experts, a shortlist of three is drawn up for each category to attend the glittering awards ceremony in Birmingham in April – hailed as the Veterinary Oscars – where the winners will be announced.

Simon Wheeler, head of marketing for Petplan comments on the awards:  “When we first launched these awards vets were very much the unsung hero and we set out to change this.  Each year we’re astonished by the public’s response, with tales ranging from midnight rescues to simple acts of kindness and support.”

The closing date of nominations is 15th February 2008
